Julie’s Bridal Shower at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts

I’ve added three beautiful pictures of Julie from her bridal shower that she had last month! Thank you so much to Danny Poole for emailing them to me! Here are the photos, a little description and a quote from Julie from the shower:

On Saturday, March 24, former Dexter actress, Julie Benz, hosted a bridal shower like no other when she brought 20 friends – including her bridal party and other friends and family – to Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Hollywood.

“I’m not your typical bride, so doing something out of the box like a cooking lesson at Le Cordon Bleu was perfect for my shower. I loved that although I invited a lot of friends from various parts of my life, the hands-on aspect created a forced interaction—in the best way possible! It was so unexpected and unique, and everyone had such a great time,” said Benz.

So just what did Julie want to learn how to prepare for her special day? Following the shower’s theme of “Sweet and Spicy,” the Indian-inspired menu below was created specifically for Julie by Le Cordon Bleu.

• Potato and Green Pea Samosas served with a Serrano chili-based Green Chutney and Pickled Root Vegetables
• Chicken Vindaloo
• Molten Chocolate Lava Cake with an Ancho Chili Ganache center, served with a Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and a Spicy Tuile Cookie

What a great and unique idea for a bridal shower!!!

Julie Benz Gets Female Lead In Syfy Series “Defiance”

Great news!! Julie has landed the lead female role in Syfy’s new show “Defiance”. Congratulations to Julie!

EXCLUSIVE: Dexter alumna Julie Benz will star opposite Grant Bowler Bowler in the Syfy series Defiance. Tony Curran (Pillars Of The Earth), Jamie Murray and Stephanie Leonidas also have been cast in the live-action drama, written/executive produced by Farscape creator Rockne S. O’Bannon, which was developed concurrently with an online video game. Set on a future Earth, Defiance is set in a world where humans and aliens live together on a planet ravaged by decades of war and transformed by alien terra-forming machines. It centers on Jeb Nolan (Bowler), the law-keeper in a bustling frontier boomtown that is one of the new world’s few oasis of civility and inclusion. Benz, repped by ICM and Vincent Cirrincione, will play Amanda Rosewater, the idealistic newly appointed mayor of the mining boomtown who is determined to maintain peace in the community. Leonidas will play Irisa, a beautiful warrior who is part of an alien race called the Irathients. After Nolan killed her criminal father, he adopted the girl and raised her as his clever – and lethal – right-hand. Curran, repped by Domain and Sanders/Arstrong/Caserta, will play Datak Tarr, a member of another elite alien race known as the Castithans who schemed his way out of his home planet before it was destroyed. Murray, repped by Sanders/Arstrong/Caserta, will play Datak’s beautiful and proper wife. Scott Stewart (Legion) will direct Defiance, slated to begin production in April in Toronto. Kevin Murphy will executive produce. Benz just wrapped the indie Supremacy.

Julie Benz To Star In TNT Film; Benz Changes Status On ‘Gifted Man’

EXCLUSIVE: John Corbett and Julie Benz lead the cast of TNT’s two-hour movie Ricochet, based on the best-selling book by Sandra Brown. Gary Cole and Kelly Overton co-star in the project, the second entry in the network’s recently announced new TNT Tuesday Night Mystery movie franchise slated to launch in November that will feature six contemporary crime dramas, from true-crime stories to fictional mysteries. Det. Sgt. Duncan Hatcher (Corbett), a sexy Savannah homicide cop, falls hard for Elise Laird (Benz), a dishy damsel-in-distress. She’s married to corrupt Judge Cato Laird (Cole), who consistently subverts Hatcher’s efforts to bring a local drug lord to justice. Things get complicated when Hatcher and his feisty partner, Det. DeeDee Bowen (Overton), are called to the Laird home after Elise supposedly shoots an intruder in self-defense. Production on Ricochet begins next week in New Orleans.

Benz, who is coming off ABC’s superhero drama No Ordinary Family, was available to take on the role because of a recent change in her status on CBS’ upcoming supernatural medical drama A Gifted Man. She was a regular in the pilot, playing the sister of the lead, Michael (Patrick Wilson), an ultra-competitive surgeon whose life is changed when his dead ex-wife (Jennifer Ehle) starts visiting him. The family part of Michael’s life was substantial in the pilot, written by Susannah Grant, but the project has since been retooled by showrunner Neal Baer, an ER veteran, with the focus shifted predominantly to Michael’s medical world, a change underscored by the recent casting of Rachelle Lefevre as a new doctor. With the series becoming essentially a medical drama and the family element taking a back seat, Benz, repped by ICM and Vincent Cirrincione Associates, renegotiated her deal and will now be recurring on the show, allowing her to tackle other projects. Corbett is with CAA. (Source)

Keck’s Exclusives: Julie Benz is a Royal Pain

Julie to guest star in an episode of “Royal Pains”, read below:

Forgive that headline, because Julie Benz is actually one of the sweetest actresses I’ve ever met. And I’m thrilled she’s just landed a fun role on USA’s Royal Pains.

Julie, best known for her roles on Dexter and No Ordinary Family, will play a young mother named Elyse. After an accident on the family farm leaves her with a nasty wound that won’t heal, Dr. Hank (Mark Feuerstein) is called into action by her daughter Libby (Meredith Hagner).

Julie’s experience as a lesbian stripper on Desperate Housewives should come in handy, as Elyse just so happens to be a lesbian farmer with a wife named Anna. The episode will air Aug. 3.
